Bayou Classic returns to N.O Nov 27

The 48th Annual Bayou Classic between the Southern University Jaguars and Grambling State Tigers returns to the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. The game will be Saturday November 27 at 4 p.m and ticketrs are available through Ticketmaster.

The move back to New Orleans follows a time off in 2020 due to the cornavirus pandemic then a match up in April.

At that game which was the 47th Annual Bayou Classic, the Jaguars defeated the Tigers 49-7 in Shreveport’s Independence Stadium. The win extended Southern’s winning streak to three games.

Following the game, Southern University coach Dawson Odoms left to coach at Norfolk State. Jason Rollins was then named the 19th head football coach for the Jaguars.

Procter & Gamble Company is the official presenting sponsor of this year’s game. It has been a coporate supporter for more than five years, according to Classic officials.

The Bayou Classic ranked as the #1 HBCU Classic in the nation. It is the iconic collegiate gridiron matchup between Southern and Grambling.
